The inspiration behind Glance came from a common scenario: the time-consuming process of trying on outfits. The designer, mc.Dsg, envisioned a tool that could simplify this process, resulting in a mirror that previews your outfit without the need to wear it. This design is particularly useful in both domestic and commercial settings, such as walk-in closets or fitting rooms.
What sets Glance apart from other mirrors is its unique properties. It features a self-standing structure, eliminating the need for wall fixation. Additionally, it comes with a built-in hanger at the back. Users simply hang their chosen outfit on the adjustable pole, and the mirror provides an immediate view of how it would look when worn.
The realization of Glance involved the use of mirror, wood, and metal. The design specifications measure at 1400 mm x 690 mm x 1850 mm, making it a suitable addition to various spaces. The head mirror and the lower hanger are adjustable in height, catering to users of different statures.
The design process of Glance presented its own set of challenges. The main challenge was creating a simple yet attractive object that could easily fit into any home. Despite these hurdles, mc.Dsg successfully designed a mirror that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
Glance's uniqueness and innovation did not go unnoticed. It was awarded the Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2018, a prestigious accolade given to designs that demonstrate remarkable expertise and innovation. This award is a testament to mc.Dsg's commitment to creating designs that not only solve everyday problems but also add an element of style to our surroundings.
